rocketUpdate™

The rocketUpdate system, is a program that has been designed and developed internally by Touchmate. It is a system that will allow the owner of a Touchscreen Kiosk to easily and quickly update and maintain control of the content that displays on their kiosk.

The system is designed to use a web browser to allow for the updating of the information, it is very simple and easy to learn, and is no more complicated to use than a basic word processing program. The system was originally designed for clients to update their websites and maintain standards for style and layout, but has since been adapted to also allow for kiosk use.

The basic structure of the system is a hosted server that contains a database. The rocketUpdate™ system resides on that system - the facilitator of the rocketUpdate™ system has the flexibility to change the content that is viewed on a Touchscreen - it could be done via the actual Touchscreen that displays the information or it could be done remotely via a web browser which has adequate security levels that will protect the integrity of the content (this would enable kiosks to be situated all around the country and the content updated from one central location - which then automatically replicates through all the kiosks).

The rocketUpdate™ publishing engine takes the content that is stored and generates the final pages. This is a dynamic process and therefore ensures that content is always the most recent version.

rocketUpdate™ provides a seamless and powerful environment for the creation of tailored content. It is designed so that the authors have complete control of the full range of features provided.

Multi-User Authoring

rocketUpdate™ will allow multiple users to edit however, a record locking feature ensures that clashing changes are prevented.

Single source Content.

The rocketUpdate™ system is designed so that the information can be used in different context i.e. Touchscreen and on the web.

Powerful Linking.

The rocketUpdate™ system is designed so that authors can create cross-linked pages and is stable against restructuring. Nontechnical authoring Content creators do not need to understand complex programming - the system is no more complex than a simple word processing program - however the system also has sufficient resources that would allow for complex task orientated programming to be easily added in.

Stylesheets

The final appearance is controlled by stylesheets that provide flexibility and expandability.

Page templates

Overall page designs can be specified via templates.

Extensibility

The system is simple to integrate "snippets" of code that would allow for additional publishing functionality.

The rocketUpdate™ system can provide extensive usage statistics including : most popular pages and daily usage.
